SMUTS HOUSE, IRENE

We had a great time again today.....this time we did not have to charge ahead but could really take in the surroundings, the reason that we did not run a "race" today is that Canobie stayed at home and she always wants to be first. When we left this morning she was somewhere on the property and did not come when called so her bad luck, she missed out.......but old Grandma Ciska, my German Pointer thoroughly enjoyed taking her place.

Strange how dogs must be able to communicate, Ciska is terrified of a Malamute because Chanuba always bullies her and I am sure Rosa knew this and thought "aha I will do the bullying today, you are not getting away from it hee hee". It was so funny to see loving Rosa who loves all the other dogs take an instant dislike in Ciska, I laughed at them but sure don't think that Ciska found it very amusing lol.

It was great having so many attending our Oubaas Trial hike on the historic land which once belonged to Genl. Jan Smuts, past Head of State of South Africa. It was a wonderful experience to have walked, most probably the same path he walked many many years ago. He was also one of the founder members of the United Nations and a great statesman from the past history of our country. When getting to the top of the hill it have crossed my mind, wonder what he would have thought about all the housing estates rising around this pictorial hill.

a Memorial stone was laid in memory of Genl. Jan Smuts on the spot from where he meditated on life, the United Nations and everything else.

All the dogs had a wonderful outing, the weather was great, nice and cool and ideal for walking Alaskan Malamutes - we cannot wait for our next outings.
