This is what happens to you, when owing a
"Giant" Alaskan Malamute!
Once again, we had a wonderful time
and what an amazing dog friendly hike did we have with our Mals and friends. We
had a little problem getting to Hunters Street, as it seems that their was no
direct entrance as indicated on the map. We tried Maple Street and came to a
T-junction with Hunters and we were on our way to a unbelievable walk in the
park.
Thor could not wait for his
girlfriend "Rosa" to appear and poor Anton, as the top picture shows, had his
hands full. These outings are really becoming the highlight of our lives.

Sorry, they
just don't want to bring me with the Volvo. |
|
Hi Rosa, I
have missed you lots ... how about a cuddle? |
|
Lets get
going, it will be hot soon |
To
all - plus of course the dogs Rosa, Chanuba, Canobie
and Jason.
Kirstin,
Thor and I had a really excellent walk today. Thor
was a total hooligan trying to chase "his girl" Rosa
everywhere for the first few hours. Putting her in
front of the pack was a smart move and ensured that
Thor was continually focused on his "girl" and kept
powering along the trail.

Come,
come, come it is time to get going. |
|
Don't we
enjoy our swim, if the humans just
realise this is the reason why we go
along on the outings.
|
|
Thank
Anton, that cooling off has been most
enjoyable.
Next time I will go for a swim.
|
Thanks for making the starting time of the walk
earlier - Thor found it a lot better starting the
walk at 08h15 - rather than 09h30. We finished the
walk just after 10h00, rather than 12h00 like last
time - and this meant the dogs were spared the brunt
of the main heat of the day - which really got to
him at Faeire Glen. Thor had so much energy this
time around - and the abundant shade afterwards
really helped. He downed 3 liters of water during
the walk - but kept jogging along chasing after
Rosa. There's a budding love affair going on there.
And -
WOW!! - he's starting to get a bit better around
water - he crossed those two tiny 5cm deep streams
without a problem and even got into the water at the
dam with the other dogs. I was amazed.
After we finished the walk - he started pursuing
Chanuba instead as Rosa was tied up and Chanuba was
coming on to him -but she was quite like a typical
woman - playing hard to get and then being all coy!
Poor Thor couldn't decide what to make of her
behavior.
"Thor the Beast"

He has broken the "un-official World
weight-pulling record over 10 meters" and that to
get to Rosa.
And
then - the end of the morning - with Thor tied to
the towing hitch at the front of the UNO - the
desire to get to Rosa proved too much - and he
literally started to move the car - pulling over
765kg on a grassy uphill. I think we were all
impressed. Anyway - it was an awesome morning -
thanks to all who joined in!
Anton and Kirstin
Looking
forward to the 23rd April outing.

They have given us some nice grip
this time. |
|
It was nice meeting
old friends again. |
|
This time we had lots of shade
along the way. What an amazing outing we are having. |
Once
again the walk was a great success. We
really had a great time and today. Thor was really
into the swing of things, he was very determined NOT
to be carried over the streams again. He most
probably thought; well I have to impress the girls
today. Jason actually behaved himself around Thor
until we were back at the vehicles and it just
became too much for him that Thor was getting all of
the girls attention that he charged him, luckily he
was tied up.
For a change this was an easy walk, no hills or
slopes, the dogs went for a swim in the dam and some
geese came closer to have a look. When Thor pulled the Uno,
what awesome power he really does
have. Anton I would hate to think what would happen
to you if Thor decides to take off while you are
walking him. I think we will just see a
cloud of dust behind Thor and somewhere in that
cloud would be Anton in agony.

Francis,
how about giving us some chicken. |
|
Anton, watch
what we are doing behind your back! Hope
Rosa is not watching. |
|
Thor,
that is my mommy Kirstin.
|
Chanuba,
my female Mal, was off leash and really gave Thor a hard
time, she could smooch him but if Thor made any
advances that was a no go, talk about playing
hard to get. Rosa was the perfect lady again loving
the attention Thor was giving her.
I love
our walks I don't even get up at 6am during the week
because Francis takes the kids to school......so for
me to get up a 6 am on a Sunday, well I just love
the friendships we have formed and the fun we have -
see ya
all on the 23rd April, looking forward to our next
walk........Mandy
