CODE OF ETHICS

I/we will at all times strife towards breeding Alaskan Malamutes true to the Breed Standards, thus maintaining the highest standards possible as an Owner or Breeder to ensure continuous improvement and maintenance of the requirements of our Breed.

Furthermore, I/we will strive to;

Adhere to all the rules of the Club;

Display good sportsmanship in and during all competitions, exhibitions or social activities in which I partake;

Refrain from any derogatory remarks, spreading malicious rumours or making any negative reference towards or about other breeders, breed owners and/or Club members;

Educate all new owners of my puppies about all good and bad habits of the breed;

Help all new comers to our breed and support them;

Study the genealogy of both parents, as well as evaluating their physical attributes, before entering in any studding contract. If I find that any of the aforementioned factors are not in the best interest of the breed: I will not enter into said studding contract papers, and will make sure of a good bloodline, before I mate my dog/ bitch or before I stud with some one else's male/female dog, thus to improve the best characteristics in our breed;

Take all dogs that I planned to breed within a breeding program to a Veterinary Faculty to be examined according to the South African Registration Requirements for the Breed. Any dog not passing the test and examinations, serious consideration to be given to sterilise such a dog, thus preventing genetic problems to be passed on in the breeding lines;

Be honest and open about any genetically factors inherent in my dogs;

Not knowingly to sell puppies to any puppy brokers or pet shops;

Accept responsibility for all puppies bred by me and always to provide a home for them until such time as a new home can be found;

Encourage Alaskan Malamute owners to take part in events supporting the characteristics of the breed, thus preventing that the original purpose of the breed will not be lost;

Not take part in any event(s) that may be damaging to the health & safety of the breed;

Microchip all my dogs bought or bred by me;

Love, take care and train my Alaskan Malamute in working activities specific to promote the abilities of the breed;

Only the Committee of the Club can amend any stipulations of the Code of Ethics.
