The
Alaskan
Malamute Breed & Working Club, South Africa" was formed as a partnership
between its
e-members. We
stand for the betterment of the breed in promoting amongst its members to take
responsibility for the Breed in South Africa and to preserve
the majesty of the breed without exploiting it. With this focus, our
Club was established in 2004 and as we expand our knowledge and every new area
of involvement with the Alaskan Malamute Breed. and as we expand our
knowledge and every new area of engagement with the Alaskan Malamute Breed, we
keep these goals in mind.
As members we strive towards actively involve all Alaskan Malamute
owners in South Africa in all aspects of the Breed. We
have collective knowledge of 42 years and has already made a mayor impact with
our visibility to existing and potential new owners seeking for advice or the
re-homing of their Alaskan Malamutes. Come and
join us in the fun in owing an Alaskan Malamute by joining our activities such
as Caniwalk, Canicross, Scootering, Bikejoring or as a team sport -
Carting. Our passion lies within this
wonderful dignified Breed of ours.
The purpose of our Club is to share
our experiences and to transfer knowledge,
to encourage more Alaskan Malamute owners across
Southern Africa to become members and to participate in our events on
offer. Maybe time has come for you as Alaskan Malamute
owners to slow down, take out your Mallie on a fun walk or addend the sledding
sports with a group of
like minded people. Imagine sharing your live experiences in owing a
Mallie with others and in return learn from each other. The most important purpose of our
Club is to bring back the fun in having an Alaskan Malamute.
As an Alaskan Malamute owner
in joining a Club is important to the future and well-being of the Alaskan Malamute
breed in South Africa. As a Club we are able to provide benefits and services
to those who own, or plan to own Alaskan Malamutes and access to quality
imported sledding equipment. We encourage our members to abide by the
KUSA Breeding Regulations, the Breed Standards and the rules &
regulations of the South African
Federation of Sleddog Sports (SAFSS) regarding working principals for
the breed.
Furthermore, it is our aim to guide prospective owners to purchase
their dogs from responsible breeders, to help them purchase a pup who will suit
their needs, and to help new owners to understand this very special breed so
that they may enjoy their dogs to the utmost by providing an understanding of
the genetic and hereditary
problems, conformation, obedience, working requirements for the breed.
Areas of interest of the Club starts
with active involvement in sled dog
sports, Club affiliations,
a Registry of Breeders, a Registry for Referral or
re-homing (Rescue). We also have a very informative website for which we have
received many praises. We also offer to our Members a Breed Forum
called "Friends of the Alaskan Malamute in Southern Africa" by offering various
articles on History, Genetics and Hereditary Problems, Health Care, Maintenance,
Breeding, Behaviour, Understanding the Breed, Feeding, Working and Social
Activities and many more. As a Club we don't believe in the Breeders' Code of
Silence and we encourage our members to be open about genetic and/or hereditary
problems in their lines, after all we are their to assist in improving our
lines in offering lines available to us.
Membership
can be seen as a means to pursue your interest in the Alaskan Malamute

We
absolutely place no restrictions on membership and everybody with a purebred
Alaskan Malamute, a

active members of Clubs in their residential area in becoming mushers
